Between 2007 and 2009, Çınar Rugs took home the top prize at America’s Magnificent Carpet Awards three years in a row. The event at AmericasMart in Atlanta brought together carpet makers, designers, wholesalers, and buyers worldwide. Judges, including well-known textile and design experts, evaluated rugs in multiple categories, selecting winners based on craftsmanship, material, and design.

The most sought-after honor, the Consumer’s Choice Award, went to Çınar Rugs for a carpet from the Sultani Collection. Designed by Pelin Ertuğrul, the piece carried dominant green tones and featured tone-on-tone color transitions. Measuring 1.98 by 2.70 meters, it took over a year to complete, with the design phase alone lasting an entire month.

Speaking about the award-winning carpet, Çınar Rugs Chairman Mehmet Çınar talked about the award’s deeper meaning. “There are patterns on the rug that resemble ties,” he said. “A tie holds things together, binds people, and strengthens relationships. We saw it as a symbol of love that protects and keeps people close regardless of their differences. The sun in the middle reflects that strength. We called it ‘Love Bag,’ inspired by the necktie.”

The awards solidified Çınar Rugs’ name. Winning three years in a row showed consistency, patience, and respect for the art passed down through Çınar generations.

The looms in Kayseri had been weaving stories long before the awards. They would continue to do so long after. A Çınar rug is never just fabric and thread. It carries the weaver’s time, the care poured into each choice of color, the balance of weight and texture, and the history.
